I am currently an online gamer - a MMPROG addict, as a matter of fact.
we are currently subscribed with a provider but would also like to explore using VPS.
is VPS good for game hosting? What do you think about it?

this is definitely a no-no.
high profile gaming needs higher server spec esp bandwidth.
for massive traffic, typical is 100Mbps otherwise, all will alg down and
at the end, not so many will play in the server.

A dedicated servers are good for game hosting, say serverpoint has provided such servers witht he second free month and around the clock support.
Have a look at them and specs and I'm sure you will choose them.
